Sonia Averchenko is a movement director based in Athens, Greece.Her training includes classical ballet,
folk dance, contemporary dance and mime corporel. She studies physical theatre in Paris with Ivan
Bacchiochi. In 2013 she founded theatre of movement "Rooster Tree" in Athens which later became
known as Movement Theatre AVERS. She uses physical theatre and movement to blend narrative,
visuality and spatial dynamics. Movement as storytelling is the key feature of her work as also symbolic
gestures and theatricality.
